We first met Geoff Grist casually at a Christmas Party in late 2011. At that stage we were committed to the idea of unspecified change. It was after all 27 years since we had originally bought our house in Mosman, and now in our early 70s we were facing downsizing and reprioritising our collections of books and things we had spent so many years acquiring, eased by having no children.

We had started looking in 2009 but were unimpressed by what we saw. It helped my wife, who originally trained as an architect, to prepare a specification for our search.
I was worrying about what to do with my full size metal working lathe and the contents of a former house we had owned in the Blue Mountains then occupying the basement.
The decision was finally made to sell our house PROVIDED we could find a suitable new home. We started the process of divestment of things. The lathe went, along with about 2.5 tons of paper records and 230 bound volumes of the National Geographic Magazine.

We contacted Geoff Grist and asked for advice. We had found a small house in the centre of Mosman which fitted our spec but with an unreal expectation of current market value. At this point Geoff brought order to our chaos by helping us to understand the market value of our own property (less than we had thought) and to value the place we were considering against the same standards it failed. All those many properties we had seen gave us a background. He helped us to clarify our thinking. Shortly afterwards my wife was trawling the Mosman Daily and the internet and found a flat in the centre of Mosman which fitted our specification exactly. The die was cast and we notified Geoff Grist who moved into high gear. He found a buyer for our property in quick order and then assisted and supported us whilst we struggled to get rid of about two thirds of our things selectively. Then there was a hiccup over finance as we needed bridging finance to cover the changeover. Again Geoff steered us towards a solution and smoothed out the last minute problems.

Now looking back 5 months I cannot believe what we achieved in what could have been a most stressful time in our lives. But I can say that without the quiet patience and support provided by Geoff Grist it could have been hell. Thank you Geoff a job well done.

Geoff Grist and Nicki LGreen were exceptional in assisting my mother, who is in her late seventies, in marketing and selling her home. Mums home in North Sydney was the first home she had ever purchased and she has lived there for the last thirtyfive years.
